Practise the B1 oral exam — without a partner
The telc B1 speaking exam is done in pairs, but most candidates prepare alone. The AI Speaking Partner simulates the whole thing live: an examiner who runs the three parts, a partner candidate who talks with you, and a graded feedback report at the end.
Teil 1 · Kennenlernen
Introduce yourself and answer natural follow-up questions — name, origin, work, family, free time.
Teil 2 · Thema
Exchange experiences and opinions on an everyday topic with your partner, exactly like the exam's discussion part.
Teil 3 · Planung
Plan something together — negotiate time, place and tasks until a real plan stands. The part most candidates never get to practise.
How a session runs
- 1
Pick a scenario — original themes and planning tasks in the real exam format.
- 2
Speak with your microphone; your German is transcribed live so you can check it before sending. The examiner and your partner Alex answer with voice.
- 3
The examiner moves you through all three parts and closes the exam, just like the real one.
- 4
You get a graded report: interaction, expression, accuracy and fluency — with concrete fixes quoted from your own sentences.
FAQ
- How does the AI Speaking Partner work?
- It simulates the telc B1 paired oral exam. An AI examiner opens the exam and moves you through the three parts — Kennenlernen, Gespräch über ein Thema, and gemeinsam etwas planen — while an AI partner candidate talks with you like a real fellow candidate: asking questions, sharing opinions, negotiating the plan. You speak with your microphone (or type), the partners answer with voice, and at the end you get a graded feedback report.
- Is it free?
- Your first full session is free — you just need a (free) account. The B1 course (€29) includes daily practice sessions plus the complete exam prep: lessons, mock exams, writing feedback and vocabulary training.
- What does the feedback report grade?
- What real telc examiners reward: interaction and task management, range of expression, grammatical accuracy, and fluency. You get scores, your strongest moments, and at most three concrete fixes for your next session — quoted from your own German.
- Do I need a good accent?
- No. The simulation grades content and language, not pronunciation — the telc B1 exam also doesn't require a perfect accent, only understandable German. What fails candidates is silence and one-word answers; that's exactly what this trains away.
- Which browsers work?
- Voice input works in Chrome and Safari (desktop and mobile). In other browsers, such as Firefox, you can do the full session by typing your answers — the partners still speak to you.
