For institutions
For universities and language programs
Your classes teach German. DeutschPass helps your international students find their level, keep learning between classes, and prepare for the certificate they need — on their own time, at no cost to you.
What it costs your students: nothing
Free, always open
- · The full A1–C1 course — 60 units with audio
- · The German level check (25 questions, ~10 min)
- · The C1 readiness check for admission candidates
- · The Einbürgerungstest trainer
Optional and paid
- · Exam preparation for a specific certificate
- · One-time payment, chosen by the student alone
- · Never required to use anything above
- · This is what funds the free side
DeutschPass is a commercial project, not a university study project — we would rather say so plainly. There is no institutional licence to buy, no contract and no procurement process: what your students use is free either way.
Your classes teach German
DeutschPass doesn't replace teaching. It's the self-study layer students work through on their own time, so contact hours stay on language rather than test technique.
Certificates you're already asked about
telc B1, Goethe B1 and DTZ for residence; telc and Goethe B2 for work and recognition; telc C1 Hochschule and TestDaF for admission — each in its real format.
Students arrive placed, not guessing
The free level check and C1 readiness check give a level and a realistic timeline before anyone enrols in the wrong course.
Nothing to install
It runs in the browser on a phone. No licences to distribute, no accounts to provision, no IT involvement to get a student started.
On campus
We come to events in Berlin in person. Students get something useful on the spot rather than a flyer.
An information stand
Orientation days, welcome weeks, faculty events, study fairs. Students take the level check on their phone in a few minutes and leave with a result, a recommended next certificate and a link that still works tomorrow.
A short session on certificates
Fifteen minutes on the question international students get wrong most often: which certificate their situation actually requires — telc, Goethe, DTZ, TestDaF or DSH — and what each one really tests.
A link for your own materials
If an event isn't the right fit, a link in your orientation pack or on your language-centre page works too. The free course and all three checks are open — there is nothing for students to unlock.
We don’t sell anything at your event
No prices on the table, no offers, no pitch — and no paper sign-up lists to look after afterwards. Students try the level check, get their result and take a link if they want one. If a student asks what the paid preparation costs, we answer honestly, and that is as far as it goes.
Who builds it
DeutschPass is built by Youssef Salem, a computer-science master’s student in Berlin who came to Germany as an international student and passed telc C1 Hochschule in under three months. Every text and exercise is written from scratch — nothing is copied from a coursebook — and the exam tracks follow the official formats part by part. More about the project.
Tell us what you need
You’ll talk to the people who built DeutschPass, not a sales team — a direct answer about whether this fits your program, usually within a couple of working days.
Want to look around first? Everything a student can use for free is open: the A1–C1 course, the level check and the C1 readiness check.
